Benefits
Brilliant wide-screen display
The display, with its aspect ratio of 16:9, delivers an extremely sharp, bright and detailed image and can use its 16 million colors and around 40% larger display area to depict even the most complex operating screens and graphics. The display is 100% dimmable and can thus be adapted to suit different surroundings.
Unique safety solution
The device versions with an emergency stop/stop pushbutton on the top and an acknowledgment button on the back of the device permit a flexible configuration of the safety solution.
The emergency stop button is only active and illuminated in red when the device is connected to a safety circuit via the connection box.
The new devices support the evaluation of the safety elements via hard-wired safety relays (e.g. SIRIUS 3SK1) and via PROFIsafe with fail-safe controllers (such as SIMATIC S7-1500F).
Innovative service and commissioning concept
Reduction of service and commissioning costs due to:
- Short configuring and commissioning times through efficient engineering and fast project downloading
- Automatic backup via optional SIMATIC HMI memory card
- Long service life of the backlit display
- Maintenance-free design
Rugged industrial design
- Dust-proof and jet-proof enclosure with IP65 degree of protection on all sides
- Extremely impact-resistant device with a safe drop height of 1.2 meters
- Resistant to operating substances
Efficient engineering
The second generation of Mobile Panels has the same aspect ratio and resolution as the Comfort Panels. Using the TIA Portal (WinCC) engineering tool with the innovative new Style Editor, it is now possible to configure operating screens for both stationary and mobile applications. Users only need to select the new Mobile Panel in the TIA Portal configuration. The configuration can then be supplemented with specific functions for mobile use.
Application
Regardless of the industry or application, if mobility is required for the on-site control and monitoring of machines and plants, SIMATIC HMI Mobile Panels offer some crucial advantages: The machine operators or commissioning engineers are able to work exactly where they have the best view of the workpiece or process.
Even for larger production facilities, complex or enclosed machines, long materials handling or production lines and conveyor systems, mobile operator panels allow fast and precise setting up and positioning during commissioning. They also ensure shorter downtimes during retooling, maintenance or repairs.

Function
Connection concept with integrated connection point detection
The Mobile Panels enable you to operate the procedure directly on site. The connection concept supports you in setting up the plant.
Three different types of connection box are available:
- Connection Box, Compact
- Connection Box, Standard
- Connection Box, Advanced
Detailed information on the connection boxes can be found under “System components for Mobile Panels -> Connection box for Mobile Panels of the 2nd Generation”.
A connection box can be mounted, for example, at any operator station. The operator inserts the Mobile Panel in the required connection box and can then operate it at this location. The cable length required between panel and connection box is between 2 and 25 meters. On completion of the task, the panel can be detached from the connection box and operation can be continued from another operator station. The operator panel contains a maintenance-free stored energy feature so that the operator can continue working after reconnecting, without the need for rebooting. The buffering time is up to 5 minutes.
By setting an ID number in the connection box, the location of the Mobile Panel can be clearly identified. This enables location-specific functions to be initiated or programmed. For example, the appropriate operating screen for the operator station is then displayed automatically.
Illuminated emergency stop/stop button
The safety-oriented Mobile Panels have a unique illuminated emergency stop/stop button. This is configurable depending on the application and therefore has several advantages:
- On the one hand, the pushbutton can be configured as a red/yellow emergency stop button and, on the other hand, as a gray stop button.
- If the device is inactive, the illumination is switched off and the button is not recognizable as an emergency stop button.
- In the inactive state, a device with a configured emergency stop button can be positioned immediately adjacent to the system and does not have to be kept locked as otherwise required by a work instruction.
Evaluation of emergency stop/stop pushbutton and acknowledgment button
The safety-related control elements, emergency stop/stop pushbutton and acknowledgment button can be evaluated by means of various options:
- Software evaluation by means of PROFIsafe in conjunction with an F-PLC
- Hardware evaluation by means of fixed wiring in the connection box via safety inputs of a PLC or safety relay
