KUKA Autonomous Mobile Robots

Solutions for autonomous mobility and safe working.

The factory of the future demands mobility and flexibility. Static production lines are making way for the next generation of robots: they are being replaced by intelligent, mobile robot units. Mobile robots navigate autonomously, act in swarms and offer total flexibility for industrial manufacturing. This is especially important for internal logistics. KUKA offers a vast mobility portfolio, from manually movable to autonomously navigating solutions.

Our robots work hand in hand with humans and align to the workpiece with millimeter precision. In addition, the fully autonomous variants work without any induction loops, floor markings or magnets. Our range of mobile robots is heralding the next era of cyber-physical production.

Flexibility and reliability combined: the autonomous mobile cobot as the optimal solution for industrial environments.

The autonomous mobile robot KMR iisy enables the dynamic use of cobot at different workstations and is therefore indispensable as an automation solution. With the HRC-capable KMR iisy, we offer an AMR (Autonomous Mobile Robot) that can move quickly and safely. This is made possible by safety scanners and 3D cameras in combination with cobot LBR iisy. It detects not only humans around the platform with it`s lidar scanner, but also potential collisions with humans and the cobot LBR iisy. 3D cameras spot obstacles up to two meters above the ground.

Design and intelligent technology of AMR: ideal for collaborative operation in assembly, intralogistics and as a service robot system

Mobile cobots in cleanrooms: efficient automation for demanding environments

Due to its low particle and emission levels and its ESD certification, the KMR iisy is also suitable for use in cleanrooms. Pick-and-place applications, material transport and palletizing tasks in the semiconductor or electronics industry can be carried out more efficiently and cost-effectively.

Get more out of Industry 4.0 with the use of mobile cobot platforms

Safe collaboration between humans and robotics, automation of more complex, physically demanding tasks for humans, flexible travel paths, collision protection and uninterrupted operation – the autonomous mobile cobot KMR iisy offers numerous advantages for loading and unloading, quality testing in the production line as well as workpiece and material transport. KMR iiwa: autonomous and extremely flexible

KMR stands for KUKA Mobile Robotics. The KMR iiwa is a combination of the sensitive LBR iiwa lightweight robot and a mobile, flexible platform. As the name and the individual components already suggest, the KMR iiwa stands out with its high degree of mobility and flexibility.

Manufacturing processes are changing constantly. This is why mobile robot systems must be very adaptable. Maximum mobility and autonomous working methods optimise your production significantly.

The KMR iiwa is a flexible and autonomously navigating platform that moves the robot to where it is needed - precisely and safely

KUKA KMR iiwa

The KMR iiwa advantages

Combinable

Design your individual turnkey system solution. The modular KMR iiwa system offers numerous combinations of robot technology, mobile platforms and industrial components.

Sensitive

Seven special joint torque sensors on each axis of the LBR iiwa lightweight robot make it highly sensitive to its environment. It navigates safely and without protective fencing – external contact will cause it to stop immediately.

Autonomous

Thanks to the laser scanners, the mobile platform too can navigate fully autonomously. It monitors its environment. And it reacts immediately if a person or object is in the way.

Agile

Specially developed Mecanum wheels allow the mobile platform to move omnidirectionally and execute 360-degree rotations. A wheel consists of several rollers that are each aligned at an angle of 45 degrees relative to the axle. This top-notch maneuverability shortens throughput times and reduces idle times in the manufacturing process.

Precise

The KMR iiwa achieves a positioning accuracy of up to +/- 5 millimeter, even in the tightest spaces.

Intelligent

With KUKA.Navigation Solution, the KMR iiwa can reliably move around obstacles and look for a new route.

Independent

The vehicle and robot are supplied directly with power from Li-ion batteries.

Easy to operate

KUKA Sunrise.OS and Sunrise controller for the vehicle and robot, makes it easy for you to operate and use the KMR iiwa.

KMR QUANTEC

The KMR QUANTEC is the mobile industrial robot system from KUKA. It moves your KUKA robot to the exact location needed – whether for the construction of ships, aircraft or wind turbines. Even very large components can be processed easily.

Find out more about the KMR QUANTEC, speak with our team.

KMR QUANTEC: Autonomous and precise

The KMR QUANTEC is the combination of KUKA robots, mobile platforms and other industry-standard components to form a complex, mobile robot system.

Variable components allow us to offer customised solutions – tailored exactly to your individual requirements. The number and position of the installed robots as well as the size and capacity of the platform and tools is variable.

The mobile KMR QUANTEC robot unit consists of the mobile KUKA omniMove platform, a KUKA robot of the KR QUANTEC series as well as software and a controller. The sophisticated navigation system KUKA Navigation Solution ensures autonomous maneuvering through the work area without risk of collision and without requiring floor markings.

Unrestricted mobility with the Mecanum wheel

The KMR QUANTEC can move omnidirectionally thanks to the special KUKA omniMove drive technology: each wheel consists of individual, barrel-shaped rollers. These are encapsulated by two fixed rims that do not touch the ground. Each wheel can move independently of the others.

This means: the KMR QUANTEC can also move sideways, diagonally and even in a circle. As a result, it can be maneuvered safely and precisely even in the tightest spaces.

The autonomous navigating KMR Quantec is particularly suitable for the machining of heavy components. More about our mobile industrial robot system.

KUKA KMR Quantec

The KMR QUANTEC advantages

Safe and controlled

The KMR QUANTEC can be used reliably in mobile operation thanks to the integrated software and control system. Maneuver the KMR QUANTEC into the desired position with millimeter precision. The mobile KUKA robot autonomously monitors its surroundings with the integrated laser scanners, allowing it to safely navigate past people and objects.

Mobile and independent

High-performance batteries ensure that the platform does not require external power. With its industry-standard wireless technology, the KMR QUANTEC is able to move about its work area free of restrictive cabling.

Multi-functional and powerful

The mobile KUKA omniMove platform has a standard payload capacity of 7,000 kilograms. The integrated robot is a KR QUANTEC 150 R3300 prime with a payload capacity of 150 kilograms and a reach of 3,300 millimeters. This means the KMR QUANTEC can also handle very large and heavy components. Notwithstanding its high payload capacity, it can achieve a position accuracy of +/- 5 millimeters – regardless of the distance already travelled. Thanks to the KUKA omnidirectional wheel technology, it is able to maneuver safely to the desired position even in the tightest of spaces. The size and payload of the platform can be selected to meet the individual requirements.

Adaptable and variable

The mobile platform and the robot of the KR QUANTEC series can be customised according to your specific needs. Various tools, equipment and grippers can also be added or exchanged as desired.

Solution for autonomous platforms: KUKA.Navigation Solution

KUKA.NavigationSolution is our navigation solution for autonomously navigating vehicles. Whether navigation, control, management or monitoring: our navigation solution covers all mobility requirements.

Using the SLAM method – which is an acronym for Simultaneous Localization And Mapping – the platform is able to pinpoint its location in real time on a map of its environment created from the data of the safety laser scanners and wheel sensors.

The KUKA Sunrise.OS system software is used for the KUKA KMR iiwa. This software is tailor-made to operate lightweight robots and offers functions for programming, planning and configuring lightweight robot applications.
