Mobile Computing (Tablets)
Tablets are available with powerful Android or Windows operating systems and enable mobile data exchange in the oil and gas, petrochemical, chemical, pharmaceutical, and other industries. The rugged tablet solutions are designed for harsh environments and Zone 1/21, Div. 1 hazardous areas. They support mobile workers with their daily tasks such as check-ups, inspections, maintenance measures, inventories, and material tracking.
Overview
Tablets are available with powerful Android or Windows operating systems and enable mobile data exchange in the oil and gas, petrochemical, chemical, pharmaceutical, and other industries. The rugged tablet solutions are designed for harsh environments and Zone 1/21, Div. 1 hazardous areas. They support mobile workers with their daily tasks such as check-ups, inspections, maintenance measures, inventories, and material tracking.
To meet the high demands of these applications and to ensure safe operation, the devices are subjected to the following tests:
Thermal Resistance Test
Over a period of four weeks, the devices are exposed to extreme heat and humidity and a day of extreme cold in an environmental test chamber.
Impact Test
Test weights are dropped onto the devices several times from predefined heights to ensure the durability of the housings and (touch screen) displays.
Drop Test
Devices are dropped from a height of 1 m onto a concrete floor to test ruggedness.
Overpressure & Flame Propagation Test
The units are then subjected to hydrostatic pressure tests to verify the strength and integrity of the housing. An internal explosion with test gases is then triggered to ensure that the flames do not spread from the inside to the outside.
Protection Against Foreign Matter Ingress
Following the tests described above, the devices are tested in accordance with IP standards 64-68 for resistance to the penetration of water and dust.
